Artist Statement

In a world dominated by digital interactions, the photo booth stands as a rare and evolving space for intimacy. I explore the intersection of memory, human connection, and the shifting nature of personal relationships as we all navigate this age of social media and instant gratification.

I document my own relationships as a vessel to help me understand the state of the world we live in, often lacking tangibility. Humans naturally long for connection and closeness,and seek authenticity in a culture of impermanence. It stands in opposition to the transient, algorithm-driven interactions that are prevalent in the culture of digital life.

The photo booth, a long-standing device for preserving memories and creating a physical piece to take with you. There is nostalgia in remembering the process. Stumbling upon a photo booth in the mall, squeezing an absurd amount of people into that tiny space, wondering if you’re in frame, waiting patiently as the strip falls out of this mysterious machine. All of which are a part of the experience of connection we seek, when intimacy often feels ephemeral.
